Italy: Economic crisis 'opportunity' for expanding investment in East
Milan, 21 October (AKI ) - The current economic crisis can be, for firms, an opportunity for investment and expansion in Eastern Europe. These are the views of Gian Carlo Bertoni, in charge of the department of promotion and marketing of Simest, who spoke during a one-day workshop organised by Fondazione Istud, taking place in the northern Italian city of Milan on Wednesday.
"In Eastern Europe, Italy is part of the economic exchange, but not enough as an investor, said Bertoni.
Istud's workshop is entitled "Investing in the east. Twenty years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Italy's economic opportunities"
"Eleven percent of Italy's world trade is done with the east. It is an important role indeed, but it can be improved," said Bertoni, reminding the audience that Eastern Europe is a "composite" area which is difficult to approach but presents numerous opportunities.
"It is an area which encompasses 16 to 20 countries with more than 350 million buyers," said Bertoni.
