Pakistan: Five killed after suicide blast




Chaman, 2 March. (AKI) - Five people were killed on Monday during a suicide attack on a girls school in the district of Pishin, in Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan region.

Pakistan's Geo News said at least 12 people were injured in the attack, which took place as Maulana Mohammed Khan Sheerani, the leader of the Islamic political party, Jamiat-e-Ulemae Islam, arrived to attend a function.

Reports said Sheerani was the target of the attack. He was addressing a function inside the school with other JUI leaders just before the blast occurred.

Witnesses said the suicide bomber was a teenager, who detonated his explosives after being stopped by security guards at the entrance to the school.

No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
