Pakistan: Seven militants killed in fresh South Waziristan clashes
Islamabad, 6 Nov. (AKI/DAWN) - The Pakistani army has reached the strategically crucial Taliban stronghold of Makeen, Pakistani daily DawnNews reported on Friday. As battles continued across South Waziristan, the Pakistani army claimed to have killed seven militants in clashes around Ladha and Sararogha.
On Thursday, security forces secured the Ladha fort and claimed killing at least 28 militants, depriving the Taliban of a critical strategic point.
Five militants were also arrested while five soldiers, including an officer, lost their lives in a blast in the Sararogha area.
In mid-October, the Pakistani army began a major offensive against the Pakistani Taliban and al-Qaeda militants in South Waziristan, near the Afghan border.
