Afghanistan: Children killed in bomb attack in Khost

Khost, 24 Nov. (AKI) - At least three people were killed when a remote-controlled bomb exploded in the eastern Afghan province of Khost on Tuesday. The interior ministry said two children were among the victims who died when a water truck exploded.

Another two children and one man were wounded in the Tuesday attack, the ministry said.

Wazir Pacha, a spokesman for the provincial police chief of Khost, said authorities were investigating the target of the attack.

Taliban violence against American and NATO soldiers and civilians continues to rise in Afghanistan.

Four American soldiers were killed in attacks in Afghanistan this week and 470 foreign soldiers have died in Afghanistan this year.

More than 100,000 international troops are stationed in the country and United States president Barack Obama is considering whether to send up to 40,000 extra troops in a bid to end the eight-year-old conflict.
