
Pakistan: Car bomb kills 12 at Peshawar bus stop

Islamabad, 23 Feb. (AKI) - At least 12 people were killed near the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Thursday when a car bomb detonated at bus station.
“It was a car bomb blast. Twelve people have been killed and 32 injured, we are investigating whether a suicide bomber was involved or not,” senior police official Kalam Khan told the AFP news agency.
Four children were among the victims of the explosion that tore apart vans waiting to take on passengers.
The car bomb was loaded with nearly 100 pounds (45 kilograms) of explosives, the AP news agency cited city police chief Siraj Ahmed as saying.
Peshawar sits on the border with Pakistan's restive northwest tribal region has been considered a stronghold of Taliban insurgents.
