
Yemen: Attack on information minister thwarted

Sanaa, 3 Aug. (AKI) - An attack on the Yemeni Minister of Information Ali Ahmed al-Amrani has been thwarted after a gunman got close his but managed only to kill car his body guard, according to al-Arabya.
Amrani had already escaped from another attack on his life on the 31 January last year, when the assailants set his car on fire shortly he left the government office in Sanaa.
Amrani, who had been part of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh's party, became part of the opposition in March after a protest against the repression of anti-government demonstrators.
