
Algeria: 'Eight Al-Qaeda' militants killed, weapons seized, along border

Algiers, 6 Oct. (AKI) - Algeria says it killed eight Al-Qaeda terrorists and wounded another three in a military operation along the border with Niger, according to a local news report.
The hours-long desert raid occurred late Sunday and into early Monday, Algerian newspaper el-Khabar reported.
Algerian authorities said the operation dismantled a major network that smuggled arms from Libya. Four people were arrested, including some Libyan citizens.
The Algerian military seized a truck that transported a a million dollars worth of Libyan anti-tank missiles manufactured in Russia, as well as automatic and light weapons.
They also documents regarding Al-Qaeda Organization in the Islamic Maghreb, considered by some analysts to be the most active and dangerous branch of the global terrorist group.
