Bin Laden: Al-Qaeda confirms death and threatens revenge

Islamabad, 6 May (AKI) - Al-Qaeda on Friday confirmed that Osama Bin Laden was killed and vowed to avenge his death by carrying out terrorist attacks against the United States and its allies.

"We stress that the blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is precious to us and to all Muslims and will not go in vain," said the statement Al-Qaeda released on jihadist Internet forums, according to US-based SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant messages.

In its message, Al-Qaeda said it will soon release an audio message from bin Laden recorded about one week before his death.

Bin Laden was killed early on 2 May in a raid conducted by the US Navy SEALs at a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan near Islamabad.
