A suicide bomber blew himself up near a police station in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least six people, according to news reports.
Islamabad, 30 Nov. (AKI) - A suicide bomber blew himself up near a police station in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least six people, according to news reports.
The attack occurred in the town of Bannu in northwest Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan which is used by Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants as operating headquarters, according to US officials.
Qazi Fayazuddin, a senior medical officer at a local hospital, told German press agency dpa that 22 injured people were brought to his facility following the blast. Six of them have died, he said.
'One policeman and five civilians, including a 6-month-old baby, are among those killed,' he said.
The town's head of police said the bombing was a suicide attack.
“It was a suicide attack. The bomber came on foot and detonated himself near a police van close to a police station,” Bannu police chief Iftikhar Khan said in a news report.
