
Yemen: Drones kill 'at least 10 militants'

Sanaa, 13 June (AKI) - A US drone attack in Yemen killed at least 10 rebels in Yemen's south, according to news reports.
The attack by two unmanned aircraft targeted Al-Qaeda cells in the city of Azzan in Shabwab province, according to the Xinhua news agency, citing comments by a security official.
"We believe that the air raids killed high-ranking Al-Qaeda commanders," said the official, on the condition that his name not be used.
Al-Qaeda's branch in Yemen, which is considered one of the terror group's most dangerous affiliates. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP) was formed in January 2009 by a merger between two regional offshoots of the international Islamist militant network in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
The United States is aiding Yemen's fight against militants with drone attacks.
