Foreign minister Angelino Alfano on Tuesday lauded Italy's better than expected 0.5 percent quarterly economic expansion from July to September and 1.8 percent annual growth over the period.
"Italy's gross domestic product continues to rise! The best data in six months....the fruit of the government's work in these past years," read the tweet.
"Economic growth did not happen by chance but is the result of clear fiscal and labour policies, " the tweet continued.
Italy's premier Paolo Gentiloni earlier praised the preliminary GDP data issued by central statistics agency Istat saying the government was "satisfied" with the figures.
"We are the world's high-jump champions. Italy's economy has got moving again," Gentiloni said.
Third quarter growth was driven by firm domestic demand and expanding exports, Istat said.
The year-on-year growth from July to September was the strongest rise since the first quarter of 2011.
The data suggests Italy is on course this year for its strongest growth since 2010.
