Italy is eager to build stronger bilateral relations and boost "our strategic and comprehensive partnership," the Italian embassy in Beijing tweeted on Monday - the first of a two-day visit to China by foreign minister Angelino Alfano.
"FM #Alfano meets (China's) minister of foreign affairs Wang Yi 'Our common aim is to further deepen our traditional friendship and to step up our strategic and comprehensive partnership,'” read the tweet.
One of Alfano's key meetings on Monday in Beijing was with Wang.
Also on Monday, the two countries signed an accord for the exportation to China of pet food from Italy, the Italian embassy in Beijing tweeted.
