Thirty-two young Italian diplomats on Monday began a training course in Caserta, southern Italy together with Palestinian counterparts, the Italian foreign ministry said in a statement.
The training course is part of Italy's increased commitment to strengthening Palestinian institutions agreed by foreign minister Angelino Alfano and Palestinian foreign minister Riad Malki at a joint Italian-Palestinian ministerial meeting in Rome on 9 November, the ministry stated.
The initiative is the result of cooperation between Italy's foreign ministry, its national administrative training school (SNA) and its centre for training of civil servants in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. It has been based in Caserta since 2012 thanks to a partnership between SNA and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
