Terrorism continues to claim innocent lives in "a dramatic cycle of extremism, fury and destruction," Italy's head of state Sergio Mattarella said on Monday.
"Terrorism does not stop slaying innocent victims," Mattarella told Italian ambassadors gathered at the Quirinale palace in Rome.
"The recent attacks in Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and Nigeria are the latest evidence of this dramatic cycle of extremism, fury and destruction," Mattarella said.
The Italian president traditionally meets with the diplomatic corps before Christmas to exchange season's greetings.
