"During my meeting with my Polish counterpart we also spoke of migrants. Poland's foreign minister told me that over a million Ukrainians have arrived there. But I believe that Europe can and most do more and everyone needs to do more," Italy's foreign minister Angelino Alfano said in Palermo on Monday.
He was speaking after a meeting with Poland's foreign minister Witdd Waszczykowsky.
"The Polish government has signalled it is available to contribute economically and in other ways to reach a compromise," Alfano said.
His comments came ahead of a meeting in Palermo Tuesday and Wednesday on migration and security of the 57 member-states of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The two-day meeting will be attended by OSCE's six Mediterranean partners - Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia
