Italy's president Paolo Gentiloni will on Friday take part in a European Union “social rights” summit in the Swedish city of Gothenburg aimed at countering eurosceptic sentiment across the bloc.
At the summit, heads of state and government will proclaim a set of 20 “social rights” underpinning the EU in a bid to make it more appealing to voters.
The set of rights range from equal access to jobs, fair wages and working conditions to welfare systems including social protection, unemployment benefits and training.
