Italian foreign minister Angelino Alfano will meet the United Nations special envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame later this week in Rome, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Alfano and Salame's meeting will take place on Saturday at the Hotel Parco dei Principe, where the three-day Forum Med 2017 summit is due to conclude.
Heads of state and government from some 56 countries, business leaders and representatives of international organisations are attending the summit.
Turmoil-wracked Libya is on the agenda at the summit, whose focus is on security, the fight against terrorism, migration, and energy and trade policy in the Mediterranean region.
