Italy's premier Paolo Gentiloni on Wednesday met his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras at Palazzo Chigi in Rome, the prime minister's office said.
Gentiloni's office gave no further information on the meeting.
Gentiloni and Tsipras were later on Wednesday due to attend a 'Med7' summit in Rome of seven southern European countries.
At the summit held at Villa Madama, Gentiloni and the other leaders were due to discuss Libya, migration, reform of European Union governance and the banking union, according to La Stampa daily.
