Italy will "in the coming months" seek to meet a "growing demand" for a European role in global affairs, prime minister Paolo Gentiloni said on Thursday.
"There is a growing demand for Europe in the world - from the Balkans to the Mediterranean," Gentiloni told journalists in Rome after a meeting with France's president Emmanuel Macron.
"On crucial topics such as climate change, the fight against terrorism and for freedoms," Gentiloni went on.
"We will in the coming months try to make a contribution to this demand for Europe," he stated.
