War-wracked Syria and relations with Iran were on the agenda at a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday attended by Italy's Angelino Alfano, the foreign ministry said.
During the summit, the foreign ministers were also due to attend a working lunch on the western Balkans, the foreign ministry said.
Alfano earlier had a working breakfast with foreign ministers from the (conservative Christian) European Popular Party, according to the foreign ministry.
