Italy will finance a two million euro project to improve garbage collection and waste management in Tripoli, ambassador to Libya Giuseppe Perrone said on Monday.
"Let’s protect the environment together and make the make the Bride of the Sea even more beautiful," Perrone tweeted on Monday.
Like other cities in Libya, Tripoli is garbage is piling up in the streets of Tripoli amid the failure of state bodies to solve the long-standing problem, the Libya Observer newspaper reports.
No immediate details of the Italian-funded waste-disposal project were available.
