Wealth brings Christians misery not joy and evilness lies in becoming a slave to money, Pope Francis said in a sermon on Monday.
"The Christian is a man or woman with joy in their heart. Many people says they are Christians but they are not," Francis stated as he celebrated mass at the Vatican hotel where he lives.
"The ID card of the Christian is the joy that gives hope and expresses itself in peace and in the certainty that Christ is with us."
There is something amiss with Christians who are unhappy, Francis stated.
"We must help these people rid themselves of that unhappiness so they can experience the joy of the Gospel."
"Money is not an evil itself but becoming its servant is," Francis said.
