"Dialogue allows us to plan for a future in common. Through dialogue we build peace, taking care of everyone," he tweeted.
Francis is due to meet Trump at the Vatican on Wednesday, his first engagement in Europe after his meetings with leaders and top officials in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Palestinian territories.
