Being sober is "fundamental" for our happiness in life, Pope Francis said on Friday.
"Sobriety is one of the fundamental conditions for leading a happy life," the pontiff stated.
He made the remarks in a message to a pontifical conference on the subject taking place in Warsaw, Poland, attended by civil society representatives, government officials and Polish lawmakers.
"A lack of sobriety destroys our ties to God and to the Church. It destroys individuals, families and relationships," the message underlined.
