Police arrested a man suspected of murdering his older brother at the family home in Barcellona di Pozzo Gotto, northeast Sicily early on Friday during an argument.
Twenty-eight-year-old Alessandro Crisafulli blasted 32-year-old Roberto Crisafulli in the chest with a shotgun at 5am, killing him outright, according to investigators.
The brothers, who lived at home with their parents, had quarrelled late into the night over "private matters", local media reports said.
They did not get on and were said to have had frequent rows.
The alleged murder weapon was a hunting rifle for which the family had a permit.
