Militants from the Islamic State jihadist group have stoned to death a 16-year-old boy in eastern Syria for alleged homsexuality, a monitoring group reports.
IS meted out the horrific punishment in front of a crowd of dozens of people in the city of al-Mayadin in Deir Ezzor province, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Tuesday.
IS regularly executed suspected homosexuals in Syria and Iraq by hurling them from the roofs of high buildings. If the victim is not killed outright, they have then been stoned to death on the ground below.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, one of the main organisations reporting abuses during the Syrian conflict, relies for its information on a network of activists and doctors inside the country.
