The 17-year-old boyfriend of a 16-year-old girl who vanished in the town of Specchia in southern Italy's Puglia region has been put under formal investigation for her murder, prosecutors in Lecce announced on Wednesday.
A Specchia resident's security camera filmed Noemi Durini with her boyfriend inside a Fiat 500 car shortly before she disappeared in the early hours of 3 September, local daily La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno reported.
Police with sniffer dogs are currently concentrating their search for Durini's body in a rubble-filled quarry in the nearby town of Alessano, the daily said.
Durini's mother had lodged a complaint with local magistrates against her daughter's boyfriend over his allegedly violent behaviour that led to a rift between the couple's families, according to the daily.
