A conference entitled 'The sustainable development goals: experiences and progress on their implementation in Europe' will take place next week in Rome, Italy's foreign affairs ministry said on Friday.
The conference, which is being organised with the Global Compact Network in Italy foundation will be held on 25 October at the foreign ministry, the ministry stated.
The meeting will be attended by foreign affairs undersecretary Benedetto Della Vedova, by the GCNI president Marco Frey and the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development's spokesman Enrico Giovannini, the ministry said.
Lise Kingo, executive director of the United Nations Global Compact is slated to give an opening address at the meeting and will also make its closing remarks together with Della Vedova, the ministry said.
GCNI was established in 2002 to contribute to the development in Italy of the "Global Compact", a project designed to promote corporate citizenship and help advance sustainable business models and markets launched in 1999 by the then secretary-general of the United Nations Kofi Annan.
