The Syrian army and allied forces drove Islamic State jihadist group fighters out of eastern and western areas of the village of Mahakan in eastern Deir Ezzor province, state-run Sana news agency reported on Wednesday.
Sana reported violent clashes in Mahakan between IS fighters and Syrian army units during the operation.
Army units secured the Deir Ezzor villages and towns of Daher al-Nasrani, al-Sheikh Ali, Wadi al-Khour, Faidat Ahmad al-Haifan, Wadi Fleiteh, and Wadi al-Sail as IS fighters fled these areas, Sana also reported on Wednesday.
The army on Tuesday liberated from IS the strategic eastern city of al-Boukamal, 140 km southeast of Deir Ezzor city near the Syrian-Iraqi border, Sana reported.
IS's self-proclaimed Caliphate collapsed last week with the recapture of the group's final footholds in Iraq and Syria.
