Italy's 175 billion euro energy strategy is centred on sustainability and represents a key challenge for the national economy, centre-left premier Paolo Gentiloni said on Tuesday
"We must never lose sight of the fact that the national energy strategy (SEN) is a key test for our economy," Gentiloni told a renewables conference in Rome on Tuesday.
SEN contains investments of 175 billion euros, of which 30 billion are in gas supply systems and infrastructure, 35 billion in renewable energy and 110 billion in energy efficiency, Gentiloni noted.
"A total 80 percent of SEN is aimed at increasing the sustainability of Italy's energy system," Gentiloni said.
"It's a big challenge," he added.
