Migration represents a "global challenge" that requires a "structural response at various levels," Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte and South Korea's president Moon Jae-in said after talks in Rome on Wednesday.
Conte and Moon "have a shared vision of migration flows that represent a global challenge and require a structural response at various levels," the two leaders said in a joint statement at the end of a meeting at the prime minister's office in Rome.
Defence, civil aviation and other cooperation accords were expected to be signed during Moon's two-day visit to Italy - the first by a South Korean president since 2014 - Italian ambassador to Seoul, Marco Della Seta, told Adnkronos.
Earlier on Wednesday, Moon attended a lunch with Italy's president Sergio Mattarella and was on Thursday due to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican.
Moon travelled to Italy from France, where he arrived from Brussels after attending a European Union-Asia summit.
