France ready to help secure Libya's borders says envoy

France is ready to help Libya safeguard its borders, its ambassador Beatrice Le Fraper du Hellen said during a meeting with the UN-backed unity government's interior minister Fathi Bahsagha, al-Nabaa TV channel reported Tuesday, citing a ministry statement

The French government is willing to draft a plan aimed at securing Libya's frontiers and training interior ministry personnel inside Libya and abroad, al-Nabaa TV quoted the statement as saying.

Le Fraper du Hellen also reiterated France's willingness to strengthen cooperation with Libyan authorities in a number of sectors, according to the statement.

The meeting between Le Fraper du Hellen and Bhasagha came ahead of an international conference on stabilising Libya being held in Palermo, Sicily on 12-13 November.

Italy hopes that all the key and international players will attend the conference on its turmoil-wracked former colony.
