These charges were filed after Ms. Krajnc offered water to overheated and thirsty pigs on board a transport truck outside Fearman’s Pork Inc. slaughterhouse in Burlington.Activists will hold a demonstration outside the Milton courthouse (491 Steeles Ave E) on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 8 am, the morning of Ms. Krajnc’s court appearance.Thousands of people across this country and across the world give water to thirsty animals every single day. From shop clerks offering water to thirsty dogs to homeowners providing birds with birdbaths.Yet over 8 million farmed animals die each year in this country as a direct result of our outdated transportation regulations. Che ci crediate o no, la donna in questo video, Anita Krajnc, è indagata per aver dato da bere a dei maiali esausti in un'afosa giornata di giugno. Anita è stata arrestata il 9 settembre con l'accusa di 'uso improprio di proprietà altrui' e se perderà la causa rischia una multa di 4mila euro.
Anita Krajnc è la fondatrice della 'Toronto Pig Save', un'organizzazione che si batte per i diritti degli animali destinati al macello. Sulla pagina Facebook dell'organizzazione la donna racconta l'accaduto. Stava dando dell'acqua ai maiali diretti al macello, quando l'autista del tir le ha intimato di non farli bere altrimenti avrebbe chiamato la polizia. Anita gli ha chiesto un po' di compassione citando il verso della Bibbia: 'Ho avuto sete e mi avete dato da bere'. Ma la risposta dell'uomo è stata: "Non sono umani, stupida donna".
Ora Anita è indagata per 'uso improprio di beni altrui' e rischia grosso. La multa da pagare sarebbe di 4mila euro. Ma l'attivista non si arrende a resta ferma nelle sue convinzioni. "Offrire acqua a un maiale assetato - dice Anita - è un atto di compassione. Non è solo un diritto, ma un dovere che condividiamo tutti. Far soffrire i maiali, quello è sbagliato. Affronto la legge con dignità, consapevole del fatto che la ragione e la giustizia sono dalla mia parte".
