-- The 17th Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai, the #1 Horticultural, Floricultural Garden Trade Fair in Asia, will be Held in the Shanghai New International Expo Center April 22-24, 2015

SHANGHAI, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 17th Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai will be held by INTEX Shanghai Co., Ltd. from April 22-24, 2015 in the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Apart from the Holland, Germany, France and Taiwan pavilions, it has drawn over 400 companies to exhibit. It is a promising trade show in a promising new market, so why not come to China to have a look?

Created in 1958, China'shukou system, which ties one's civil benefits to their place of residence, is widely believed to hold back urbanization and domestic consumption. It controls the movement of rural populations into cities. But change is coming, as China's State Council held a press conference to explain their newly-issued statement, "The Opinion of Further Promotion of Hukou Registration Reformation" in July 2014. According to this "Opinion", about 100 million migrant workers will rush into cities and enjoy equal access to urban social welfare. What a big opportunity for the flower industry when so many people flock into cities!

Judging from the planting size and output of Chinese flowers, China is ranked #1 in the world. However, when taking industrial efficiency into consideration, the average flower output per mu is only RMB6000-RMB8000, while those of "flower advanced" countries such as Holland reach RMB180,000-RMB200,000. Currently, Chinese flower export volume is about RMB3 billion while that of Holland is RMB70 billion. The Chinese flower industry has a bright future and a long way to go.

Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai is not only the largest official trade show in the Chinese floricultural, horticultural and garden industry, but also the oldest of its kind in China. Good changes are happening in the Chinese flower industry; more and more Chinese flower companies have paid much more attention to brand building. They are using more of their own logos and care more about their reputation and word-of-mouth marketing than before. With the public gradually becoming more willing to pay for brand and high-quality flowers, we can clearly sense the coming expansion of this market.
