MOSCOW, Jan. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei today announced the successful deployment of its Agile Stadium Solution in Spartak Stadium in Moscow. With the solution, the stadium has been modernized to efficiently deliver high-density, high-security wireless broadband Internet access to fans, and also ensure a direct link between stadium operators/sports clubs and fans for enhanced services such as direct ordering of food and drinks to fan seats, sales of tickets and goods, seat and parking navigation, and so forth.

In the digital age, sports facility operators are increasingly seeking advanced ICT solutions to support new mobile services such as online videos, shopping, payments, advertising, and navigation, in addition to providing wireless broadband Internet access for fans. However, facility operators face numerous challenges on these fronts, for example the challenge of ensuring network capability to provide between 40-80,000 users with simultaneous, high-density wireless Internet access while preventing channel interference due to the large number of wireless Access Points (APs) in most stadiums. In the new environment, operators are also requiring ICT infrastructure that is intelligent and agile to address user needs in new mobile services involving management of policies for different users, terminals, and services.

Huawei's cooperation with Spartak Stadium began in 2013. The stadium chose Huawei and its Agile Stadium Solution based on the service's ability to expand and upgrade the capabilities of the stadium's existing ICT systems while also controlling costs. During deployment, Huawei helped Spartak Stadium plan and implement a fault-tolerant network architecture. It also provided the stadium with advanced switches, routers, servers, storage systems, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), as well as a control system for revolving doors. The deployment of these systems support the operation of the stadium's closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, which comes with video archiving capability, as well as its digital signage, telephony, and access control systems. It also facilitates customized fan services such as registration, ticket purchase history, and discounts.

"Huawei sees great market potential in the sports facilities sector. With the growth and technological development of this segment, the demand for innovative ICT solutions has never been higher," said Cao Chong, CEO, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Russia. "Together with our partners, Huawei is dedicated to providing reliable integrated solutions to address the current and future needs of stadiums and sports arenas in Russia as well as worldwide."
