'Ritorno al futuro' ('Back to the future') è uno dei film più amati e conosciuti degli anni Ottanta. Il titolo è una sintesi perfetta, con Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) e Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) che viaggiano nel tempo per far in modo che tutto rimanga come dovrebbe nella sonnolenta cittadina statunitense di Hill Valley, ricorda 'Metro.co.uk'.
Ma se si fosse invece intitolato 'Space Man From Pluto' cioè 'Uomo da Plutone', avrebbe avuto lo stesso successo? Il filmmaker e ghostwriter Will McCrabb, sul suo profilo Twitter, ha condiviso una nota in cui Sid Sheinberg, allora presidente della Universal Tv, suggerisce al produttore, un certo Steven Spielberg, di cambiare titolo. Geniale la risposta di Spielberg: "Caro Sid, grazie per la tua spiritosa nota. Ci siamo fatti tutti una grande risata".

McCrabb ha postato anche un altro documento in cui si legge come la prima scelta per interpretare Doc Brown fosse Jeff Goldblum. Nella lista compare anche Gene Hackman e Bill Cosby.
