Immigration report unveiled at Italy's foreign ministry

The 7th annual report on the economics of immigration by the Leone Moressa Foundation was due to be presented at the Italian foreign ministry on Wednesday, the ministry said in a statement.

The report examines the international aspects of migration, delving more deeply into the demographic, social and economic dynamics of migration in Italy and Europe, according to the ministry statement.

The ministry's director general for Italians abroad and migration policies Luigi Maria Vignali, the scientific director of the Leone Moresca foundation, Stefano Solari, and Italy's national insurance and pensions institute INPS, Tito Boeri were slated to address the meeting, the ministry said.

There are 2.4 million immigrant workers in Italy - paying social security and pension contributions worth 11.5 billion euros and 7.2 billion euros of income tax - and 571,000 companies owned by immigrants, the foreign ministry tweeted.
