Italy's industry minister Carlo Calenda will next week meet the commissioners managing bankrupt flagship airline Alitalia, he said on Friday.
"On Monday I will meet the commissioners," Calenda told reporters in Rome.
"We'll see what the situation is. The goal is to cease operations promptly and well, in order not waste Italians' money."
Asked about Air France-KLM's declaration of interest in Alitalia, Calenda said: "We will evaluate this after Monday's meeting with the commissioners."
Lufthansa, British low-cost carrier easyJet and US private equity fund Cerberus are among companies that have expressed an interest in Alitalia - which has made a profit only a few times in its 70-year history.
Lufthansa’s chief executive Carsten Spohr wrote in a letter to Calendula on Thursday that significant restructuring was required before the German group would be prepared to buy the airline.
Alitalia was put under special administration last year after staff rejected a plan to cut jobs and salaries.
