Alleged comments calling women soccer players lesbians made by national amateur soccer head Felice Belloli are "hateful and unacceptable," Italian Soccer Federation president Carlo Tavecchio said on Friday.
"If he [Belloli] did say that, it would be very serious, hateful and unacceptable," Tavecchio stated.
Belloli was minuted as saying during meeting in March: "That's enough, we can't always talk about giving money to these groups of lesbians."
He has denied making the comments, which women players deplored as "male chauvinist" and "ignorant".
Italy's Olympic chief Giovanni Malago called Belloli's alleged comments "unacceptable".
He urged a rapid investigation of comments at the 6 March funding meeting.
