Rome-based theatre company Teatro Verde are in Albania's capital Tirana to take part in the International Puppet Festival with an award-winning show that has already gained worldwide renown, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The show, "Bravo bravissimo!", is a surreal piece of theatre combining memories, historical facts, cultural references and quotations "with an all-Italian flavour," according to the statement.
The show debuted in Moscow in 2008. Since then, it has toured the world - Romania, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Serbia - winning numerous awards along the way, the statement said.
In 'Bravo bravissimo' an unlikely presenter tries to "tame" an army of puppets, forcing them to perform demanding pieces from the Italian musical repertoire: from Rossini to Verdi and from Bellini to the Neapolitan Tarantella.
The show also pays tribute to jazz and "Italian-American vibes", said the statement. "A fantastically rocambolesque adventure featuring actors, puppets and dummies that are part of the vast range of this theatre company dedicated to children and families."
