Mattarella to address high-level meeting on EU

Italy's president Sergio Mattarella will give a speech at a conference on key issues facing the Europe Union, which is being held in the central city of Florence next week.

Solidarity, economic, monetary and fiscal policies, social investment, migration, defence and security, climate change and energy policy are all slated for discussion at the State of the Union conference from Thursday through Saturday.

The European University Institute is organising the annual meeting, which is taking place at the Badia Fiesolana monastery in the Florence suburb of Fiesole and at the Villa Salviati in Florence, the EUI said on its website.
