Foreign minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi was on Tuesday due to hold talks in Brussels with Michel Barnier, the European Union's chief negotiator on Britain's withdrawal from the bloc, and its consequences for Italy, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Moavero and Barnier's talks will focus on the aspects of Brexit that most directly affect Italy's interests including protecting geographic indications to defend Italian products, the status of Italian citizens residing in the United Kingdom and their acquired rights; tuition fees for Italian students and entry requirements to British universities; and issues relative to defence and security policy, especially international terrorism, the ministry said.
