In talks in Rome on Friday, Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte and Israel's president Reuven Rivlin pledged to step up cooperation in combatting terrorism that should also involve closer industrial collaboration in high-tech fields, Conte's office said in a statement.
"They (Conti and Rivlin) express the wish to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Israel in the fight against terrorism," said the statement.
"At the same time, they agreed on the need for closer industrial collaboration in high-tech industries such as cyber-security, aerospace and artificial intelligence," the statement added.
Rivlin's visit to Italy coincides with the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel which will be celebrated by Italian institutions to underline the strong friendship between the two states, according to the statement.
