Italy's populist premier Giuseppe Conte "hopes" to visit Israel in June, he said on Thursday during a visit to the northern Italian town of Rho.
"I hope to be in Israel in June," Conte told an Israeli chef at the Tuttofood fair.
Conte, a law professor, heads a fractious coalition government made up of the increasingly rivalrous anti-migrant League party and the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement.
The League, which has surged in the polls over the past year, could dissolve its alliance with 5-Star after the 22-26 May European elections, which are widely expected to confirm it as the largest Italian party.
