United Nations envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame on Tuesday met the deputy premier of the country's internationally recognised government, Ahmed Matiq, the UN mission to Libya tweeted.
"Ghassan Salame met with the Deputy President of the Presidential Council Ahmed Matiq who briefed him on his recent visit to Washington. They discussed the humanitarian situation in Tripoli including the relief efforts. They also discussed ways to revive the political process," read Unsmil's tweet.
The UN says at least 653 have been killed and 3,547 injured in the fighting in Tripoli between militias loyal to the internationally recognised government and eastern warlord Khalifa Haftar's force, which began an assault on the capital on 5 April.
