Populist premier Giuseppe Conte took part in a ceremony in Rome on Tuesday to mark the inking of an agreement between the Italian government an association representing the Church of England in Italy, Conte's office said in a statement.
The Associazione Chiesa d’Inghilterra brings together all Anglican churches in Italy, according to its website. There are around 100,000 Anglicans estimated to be living in Italy and some 20 churches, chaplaincies or congregations, its website says.
The non-profit association says its mission is to carry out "social care".
