Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte and European Commission president-elect Ursula von der Leyen had harmonious talks in Brussels on Wednesday on key issues - the 2020 budget and migration - Conte told reporters.
"We talked about the things we are facing, about the upcoming budget. We also talked about immigration - our priorities and hers," Conte said.
"I think the harmony we achieved is very important," Conte stated.
"It seems there is indeed a very good relationship."
The votes of Italian MEPs, notably from the grassroots 5-Star Movement - a partner in the new left-leading coalition that Conte heads - were crucial in confirming von der Leyen as head of the next EU executive.
