Del Re attends G20 foreign ministers summit

Italy's deputy foreign minister, Emanuela Del Re, is in Nagoya, Japan, to attend the G20 foreign ministers' meeting, which kicked off on Friday with a dinner for the heads of delegation, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The first working session of the Nagoya meeting on Saturday will focus on promoting free trade and global governance (with a special focus on the reform of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Organization), according to the statement.

A second session of the meeting on Saturday will centre on the United Nations 2030 Agenda sustainable development goals, the statement said. The session will close with a working lunch dedicated to Africa, the statement said.

Del Re will hold a series of bilteral meetings with other heads of delegation on the sidelines of the Nagoya meeting, the statement added.

Ahead of the meeting, Del Re visited an exhibition dedicated to Italian painter Caravaggio at the Nagoya City Art Museum, which has drawn over 35,000 visitors since it opened on 26 October, said the statement.

Italy will on 1 December officially become a member of the G20 Troika which, will also include the outgoing Presidency (Japan) and the incoming Presidency (Saudi Arabia), the statement noted.

Italy's will assume the G20 presidency from 1 December 2020 until 30 November 2021.

Before the Meeting opened, the Deputy Minister visited an exhibition dedicated to Caravaggio at the Nagoya City Art Museum which opened last 26 October and has so far recorded more than 35,000 visitors.
