Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio will travel to the Turkish capital Ankara for talks on Wednesday the foreign ministry tweeted, noting that he will also visit Lugano, Switzerland on Tuesday.
It will be Di Maio's second visit to Turkey this year and the trip comes at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Mevlüut Çavsoglu, the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement on its website.
"During the meetings, bilateral relations between Turkey and Italy and Turkey’s European Union accession process will be discussed," the statement said.
"Views on current regional and international developments as well as the fight against COVID-19 will also be exchanged," the statement added.
