Lebanon's economic crisis was the focus of talks in Rome on Monday between Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio and his Lebanese counterpart Nassif Hitti, according to a tweet by Hitti.
During Di Maio and Hitti's meeting "all issues of concern to the two countries were discussed," read the tweet.
Hitti and Di Maio also "looked at the economic crisis in Lebanon and its social and financial implications. Minister Di Maio gave assurances of Italy's absolute commitment to supporting Lebanon economically, financially and socially," the tweet added.
It was Hitti's first trip to Europe since the outbreak of Covid-19 emergency, Italys' foreign ministry said in a statement.
